HGV Class 1 & Class 2 Drivers Distribution Operations
Location: Tilbury, Essex
Job Type: Ongoing Agency Work (Potential Temp to Perm)
Pay Rate: £17.00 £21.00 per hour (Class 2) £18.00 £22.00 per hour (Class 1)
Start Date: Immediate Starts Available
We are currently recruiting experienced HGV Class 1 and Class 2 Drivers for a well-established distribution client based in Tilbury.
This is a busy transport operation supporting a high-volume national supply chain, moving palletised goods in and out of a major logistics hub serving retail, industrial and commercial customers across the UK.
The Role
- Driving Class 1 (C+E) articulated vehicles or Class 2 (C) rigid vehicles.
- Trunking and/or multi-drop deliveries depending on route allocation.
- Collecting and delivering palletised goods to distribution centres and customer sites.
- Securing loads safely in line with transport regulations.
- Completing daily vehicle checks and reporting defects.
- Ensuring all paperwork and delivery documentation is completed accurately.
- Adhering to strict health & safety procedures at all times.
- Maintaining professional communication with transport planners and site staff.
Requirements
- Valid UK HGV Class 1 (C+E) or Class 2 (C) Licence.
- Valid CPC and Digital Tachograph Card.
- Minimum 1 year HGV driving experience preferred.
- Good understanding of driver hours and transport regulations.
- Experience with palletised freight, RDCs or general haulage is advantageous.
- Good communication skills with the ability to liaise professionally with planners, customers, and site teams.
- Reliable, punctual and safety-conscious approach to work.
- Ability to work independently and follow planned routes.
Shift Pattern
- Monday to Friday with occasional weekend shifts available.
- Start times between early morning and daytime.
- Shifts typically 8 10 hours per day, depending on workload.
- Overtime opportunities available.
